It has been a busy week in Member Services and Chapter Business as we kept an eye on two natural disasters. Tropical storm Debby pounded Florida with wind and rain and didn’t leave until she dropped up to two feet of water in some places causing flooding and destruction. Our friends in Colorado were living a nightmare, as at times it seemed like the whole state was on fire.
Team MPI kept in touch with Chapter leaders in all the affected areas to keep tabs on our members and their welfare. These events are hard to watch and even much harder to live. As an individual who lost a home to fire last year, I can empathize with those in Colorado who are facing that devastation.
The Rocky Mountain Chapter was actually holding their annual awards and installation gala on Wednesday amidst the unfolding tragedy of the fire storms. They set up a special collection for the Red Cross at the event.
We have activated the MPI Cares program where we will cover the membership for one year for anyone who has lost their home or business due to natural disaster. In addition, we give the chapter their respective rebate to ensure the Chapter is not also affected by these unfortunate events.
