Betty Garrett is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) with over 32 years experience in the travel, hospitality and training industries. She received her CMP designation in 1987 while receiving her BS degree in Business Mgmt.,1992, from LeTourneau University. Betty was named 2002 Meeting Partner of the Year by National Speakers Association; received MPI D/FW 2006 Colleen Rickenbacher Leadership Award and awarded Meeting Professionals International’s coveted Marion Kershner Leadership Award in July, 2006.
Prior to starting Garrett Speakers International, a full service speaker bureau specializing in interactive keynote presentations, workshop seminars AND corporate training, her experiences included significant responsibilities with Meeting Professionals International, Young President’s Organization and Business Travel Management, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Mary Kay Cosmetics.
During her eight years as a board member for MPI D/FW, some of her accomplishments included: 2001 Supplier of the Year Award, Two term Immediate President, President, VP of Programs, Chair Jan. 2002 Government Affairs Program which won “Program of the Year Award”, member of various committees within the chapter and have written articles for several meeting industry publications.
She is President/CEO of Garrett Speakers International where she is responsible for the daily operations of the bureau, helping organizations grow their businesses with the RIGHT speaker and assisting meeting planners seeking the RIGHT speaker for their next event.
Betty recently authored From Hiccups to Hospice: A Survival Guide for the Cancer Caregiver which is the premier how-to manual for caregivers tending cancer patients. It is a must read for those undergoing challenges with care giving. She is a contributing writer to Coping for Cancer Magazine.
