In the month of November we often give thanks, to our family, friends and our colleagues. We post on Facebook, Twitter and Linked-In the 30 days of what we are thankful for.
I am particularly thankful for MPI. yes. MPI.
This is the first organization where it gives back to the members what they put in. It may not be immediate, but what goes around comes back around. I am reminded in our MemNet (member networking) events that the "Supplier bosses" wants to see an immediate ROI when a member come to an event/meeting/social. And I am reminded that a "Planner" won't be at a meeting unless it has an educational component where they are learning and applying the time out of the office and making their "Planner Boss" feel it was worth being out for the day.
I continue to have conversations with our Professional members (Supplier, Planners, SuPlanners, DMCs etc) I feel we are all ONE. One in this Meetings industry who, without each other, we would have no BUSINESS. It's not US/THEM... we are ONE... The MEETING PROFESSIONAL.
I got a phone call the other day for an event at sea... She called and said "Remember me?" I
worked at (resort) and we met through MPI years ago. I am overwhelmed in looking into these ships, could you help me?" Another long member of MPI reached out through FaceBook, "I need unique venues for executive retreats, article due today!" I replied with a very unique Yachting experience that may now be in a National Publication, it was my pleasure to help.
This month, I give thanks to MPI, my Board of Directors and their hard work for you, and to the members who have recently come back around in our lives, participating and doing business with each other.
